Hurricane Harvick Outdone By Hurry-Kahne
Do you remember when Kevin Harvick’s nickname used to be Hurricane Harvick? That nickname lasted until he was parked for a Cup race in 2002 for actions in a truck race at Martinsville. The hurricane logo had the ‘H’ in his last name in the shape of a spinning Hurricane. Good luck trying to find a copy of the logo on the internet, I haven’t had much luck but I still own a t-shirt with the logo on it and I’ll take a picture of it and post it here.
Anyway, Harvick later became ‘Happy Harvick’ with his logo being a flaming volleyball-like winking happy face.
So what does this have to do with Sunday’s race, nothing really except to justify my title.
… more after the jump … so go ahead and jump … do it …
So I wasn’t able to watch the race on Sunday as I was driving from Ottawa back home. I had to attend a family function in our Nation’s Capitol and with pit stops it is about a 7 hour journey.
I was able to listen to most of the race on my trusty am radio from a US station across the lake but once I got a littl further from the lake the signal was patchy at best.
Thanks to those of you who dropped by to post on the Open Race Thread, sorry I couldn’t have been there too.
It looks like I missed a good race. Here are some quick points to ponder about the race:
1) Can you believe Carl Edwards’ luck? Breaks his foot playing frisbee, misses the pit road entrance in the Nationwide race, and then blows up in the Cup race. At the moment f it weren’t for bad luck he wouldn’t have any luck at all.
2) Good showing for Harvick. On the radio they kept talking about his having potential engine problems because he was losing coolent and the car was running hot. They weren’t expecting him to be around at the end of the race. Did the TV coverage talk about any of Harvick’s potential engine problems like they did on the radio?
3) Hmmm … where did Bobby Labonte finsih and where did his temporary replacement finish? I rest my case.
4) Bush and Vickers are still alive and some of the last 5 current Chase contenders had some terrible runs allowing Vickers and Kyle Busch a shot at the Chase standings. You all have one race to smarten up!
5) I think that Harvick hates caution flags at the moment while Kasey Kahne really has no complaints about them.
OK I’ve got to go so tune in tomorrow for more, including my take on the Danica thing. See you.
