PostHeaderIcon Never mind: Fox isn’t going to do online post race coverage

Sorry for getting your hopes up, folks.

Due to rights issues with NASCAR and Turner (which operates NASCAR.com) Fox’s post race plans have been nixed before they’ve even gotten off the ground.

NASCAR.com offers postrace coverage, and has an exclusive license. Thus, no deal.

But one has to wonder how the heck Fox didn’t know about this when they announced that they were going to provide online content. Or do the conspiracy theorists believe that Fox really did know that this was contractually impossible and figured that people would appreciate them attempting to give a good faith effort?

Either way, Fox comes off pretty poorly trying to rectify a situation that they probably should never have gotten themselves into.
