Silly Season Starts Early
Huge News Today!
Aric Almirola has quit Phoenix Racing
Aric Almirola left Phoenix Racing and the 09 Chevy, deciding to focus on his run for a Camping World (I almost typed Craftsman Truck) Championship. Almirola signed on with the team before Daytona because he thought they would be running every race, and trying to win. After Miccosukee left the team, James Finch decided to begin Start and Parking the very team that won Talladega last year. That brings us too….
Mike Bliss Fired from Tommy Baldwin Racing
Bliss has been let go from Tommy Baldwin Racing. He wasn’t unemployeed long, as Bliss was named driver of the 09 Phoenix Racing Chevy. Johnny Sauter will run the 36 at Texas and Talladega, after that he will focus on the Camping World Truck series (that sounds so familiar) and the team will hire a NEW full time driver. The fun doesn’t stop there
Keyed-Up Motorsports trims schedule
Keyed Up, the 90 chevy, much like the Whitney Dodge of Terry Cook came into this year with one goal. Well, more than one. Make every race, get a sponsor, and make the top 35 in owner points. The team refused to be a start and park, and watched from the hauler as PRISM motorsports parked TWO cars, while the 90 failed to qualify. The team, with new driver Scott Riggs have pulled out of Texas, and will run a limited schedule.
But wait!!! There’s MORE!

Kelly Bires Fired from JR Motorsports
Bires hasn’t exactly been the second coming of Brad Keselowski, he took to Twitter to complain about being pulled from the car at Daytona for sponsorship reasons, and he’s fighting to stay in the top 30 in points. Well, not anymore. Bires was fired from the 88 Chevy. He will be replaced by Daytona 500 Champion Jamie McMurray for the next 7 races. After that, JR motorsports will announce a new driver, or announce new drivers. Depending on the future of the program.
Editor’s Note:
I’d like to add my two cents in on this post. It has also been reported by Jeff Gluck that Kasey Kahne is rumoured to have signed with Rick Hendrick Motorsports to drive the 5 car in 2012 once Mark Martin has fulfilled his contract.
It looks like the Silly Season 2012 Edition has officially begun now too.
